Lumecca IPL Photofacial
Sun Damage, Meet Lumecca
Lumecca IPL is one of the most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments available, clinically proven to improve skin tone and reduce common skin irregularities for a brighter, more youthful complexion. This non-invasive IPL photofacial targets sun damage, age spots, freckles, vascular lesions, and rosacea-related redness, while stimulating collagen production to improve overall skin texture.
Visible improvements can often be seen in just 1–3 sessions. Lumecca can effectively treat the face, neck, décolleté, hands, and other areas regularly exposed to the sun. Book your Lumecca IPL treatment at GLO Bar MedSpa to reveal clearer, more radiant skin with minimal downtime.
What to Expect
Your treatment begins with a consultation with one of our licensed aesthetic providers to discuss your skin concerns and determine if Lumecca IPL is right for you.
Before your appointment, avoid sun exposure and spray tanning for at least 2 weeks, and shave the treatment area if needed. During treatment, a cooling gel is applied to the skin. You’ll notice bright flashes of light and a warm snapping sensation similar to a rubber band, but most patients find the treatment very tolerable with no numbing needed.
Treatment time varies depending on the area treated, but a full face treatment typically takes about 20 minutes. After your appointment, daily SPF use is essential to protect your results.
Many patients notice improvements in pigmentation and overall skin clarity after just one session, with best results typically achieved after a series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

FAQs
-
Lumecca IPL is ideal for patients looking to improve sun damage, pigmentation, freckles, redness, or uneven skin tone with a non-invasive treatment. Lumecca is generally best suited for Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. If you have a history of melasma, be sure to discuss this with your provider, as alternative treatments may be recommended.
-
Lumecca IPL can treat the face and body, especially areas with frequent sun exposure. Common treatment areas include the face, neck, décolleté, hands, arms, and legs.
-
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, and spray tans for at least 2 weeks before a Lumecca IPL treatment. You should also let your provider know about any medications you are taking, as some (such as certain antibiotics) can increase photosensitivity.
-
After a Lumecca IPL treatment, pigmented spots may temporarily darken and develop a dry, “coffee ground” texture before naturally flaking away over the following week. Redness and vascular lesions may also temporarily change in appearance before improving. Avoid exfoliating or picking at the skin during the healing process.
-
Many patients notice brighter, clearer skin within 1–2 weeks after treatment. While improvement is often visible after one session, best results are typically achieved with a series of treatments.
-
There is little to no downtime after Lumecca IPL. Most patients return to normal activities immediately, though diligent sun protection is essential following treatment. Daily SPF 50+ is strongly recommended.
-
Temporary redness, warmth, or mild sensitivity can occur after treatment, but these effects usually resolve within a few hours. Sun avoidance after treatment is important to protect your results and reduce sensitivity.
-
Treatment recommendations vary depending on your skin concerns and goals. Many patients see improvement after one session, with optimal results typically achieved after a series of 3 or more treatments spaced several weeks apart.
